Drawing near to God and His mercy: the Jesus prayer

>мебелиe are tough days indeed — plenty of anxiety, stress, and negativity to go around and then some. And of course the overly-spirited mud slinging between Presidential campaigns, their supporters, and anyone with a political point of view has only contributed to further divisions, polarizing individuals even further than before. My wife and I have even been the target of some of that mud slinging because we don’t hold to a certain party line, which I think is just preposterous. But before I get distracted with political points, I’m going to lay that aside to reflect on something of greater importance: finding peace by drawing near to God and His mercy through the simple act of prayer.

Happy I checked back in here. I had been under the impression HHG had mostly been laid aside. Really potent reading your last two entries as I’ve been dealing with some comparable “distractions” (against all reason, it’s fascinating how willfully we can be distracted from what we recognize to be infinite beyond measure and better than all other endeavors.) Some of the realization has also come that prayer isn’t a solitary experience even when done alone that all prayer is prayer for and prayer with so my occasional disregard for myself is still really no reason for disregarding prayer. Well, thank you again, my prayers will continue to be with you and I hope yours with me.

Yeah, I nearly let HHG go after changing web hosts and having my own respective issues with struggling to be a “good Orthodox” Christian. But as reflected in this and the previous post, I’m trying to make slow strides to reduce my distractions and give God more of me.

I hope that this helps you in your journey as is it for me, just talking about things out in the open.
